Edubiase Chief: 'Vote Out NDC, NPP Our Saviour'

Edubiase Chief, Nana Antwi Gyeabour II, has openly called on Ghanaians to vote the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government out of power.

The chief, who doubles as Gyaasehene to the Edubiase Traditional Council of the Ashanti Region, at the launch of a fan club for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, running mate to the the opposition New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo at Old Edubiase in the Fomena constituency, made it clear that Ghanaians should vote the NDC out contrary to Article 276 Clause (1) of the 1992 Constitution that forbids traditional leaders from engaging in partisan politics.

“People of Edubiase, I humbly beseech you to vote for the NPP. For the last 20 years, when have we seen the price of plantain shoot up to the point that two fingers cost GHS50? So, my fellow Ghanaians, please advise yourselves. The country is already in a poor state, but if somebody says he would restore Ghana to its glory, let us support him,” he stated.

Recently, the queen of Denkyira, Nana Ama Ayensua Saara III, during a Central regional tour by Nana Akufo-Addo, also openly asked to vote for the NPP. "…We the people of Denkyira have sworn that we will always be supporters of an NPP government. This implies that if there is no NPP government in office, the people of Denkyira are not considered a part of this country,” adding: “what we have to do is to push him (Akufo-Addo) with prayers.”
