INCREDIBLE....Despite Group 'Fills Up' National Blood Bank (PHOTOS + VIDEOS)

Thank you for donating to save a life....God bless you.

It was quite a spectacle to behold when thousands of well-meaning Ghanaians drawn from all walks of life laid aside their daily duties and graciously participated in the much-publicized blood donation organized by the Despite Group of companies on Friday, July 1st, 2016.

The blood donation exercise was organized to save lives of patients at the Korle-Bu Teaching hospital, 37 Military Hospital and other health facilities.

The highly successful exercise took place at the forecourt of ‘Ship House’, Abeka Junction in Accra.

Donors who were eager to donate, started trooping into the premises of ‘Ship House’ as early as 4am. Some came from outside Accra; Volta region, Central Region, Ashanti Region and Western Region.

By 10:00am, quite a large multitude had thronged the event grounds, and it therefore came as no surprise when announcements had to be made pleading with people not to come to the Ship House because the various hospitals had overfilled their capacity.

The blood donation exercise was sponsored by the Despite Group of Companies, Ernest Chemist, Las Palmas Food Centre, TT Brothers, Phyto-riker, Osons Chemists, Y. Semereka Enterprise, Magic Malt, Kinapharma Ltd, Child Right International and others.

The CEO of Despite Group of Companies, Dr Osei Kwame and CEO of Special Investments Ltd, Dr Ernest Ofori-Sarpong, also came over to 'Ship House' to see for themselves what was happening and were mesmerised at the turn-out as scores of people were still in the queue patiently waiting to donate their blood as at 1:30pm.

The blood donation exercise forms part of a two-day activity which will be climaxed with games on Saturday, July 2 at Accra Sports Stadium.

The fun games, according to the organizers, will also offer business professionals an opportunity to burn some calories in a fun environment and still remain productive.

Some of the activities lined-up for the day include chess, ‘ludo’, musical chairs, ‘treasure hunt, 50-metre dash, table tennis, lime and spoon race, tug-of-peace, basketball, badminton, lime and spoon, among others.
