CPP Suspended Gen. Secretary, Youth Organiser Replaced

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has appointed its current deputy General Secretary in charge of Administration, Mr Asani Tano as the acting General Secretary and its current deputy Youth Organiser, Nabila Basiru as Youth Organiser.

A statement signed by the National Chairman of the party, Prof Edmund Delle said the new appointments take effect immediately.

Mr Asano and Mr Basiru replace suspended Youth Organiser, Ernesto Yeboah and suspended General Secretary Nii Armah Akomfrah who have been cited for acts of indiscipline.

They publicly condemned President John Mahama for accepting the gift of a Ford Explorer from a Burkinabe contractor after the CPP flagbearer, Ivor Greenstreet said it did not "feel wrong".

According to the party, Mr. Yeboah and Mr. Akomfrah had brought the party’s name into disrepute, and Mr Yeboah and Akomfrah are currently awaiting a hearing by the CPP's disciplinary committee for further action.
