TMA Seeks Partnership To Complete Nkrumah Park

The Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) has called on corporate organisations operating in the harbour city to partner it complete the beautification of the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park.

The first phase of the recreational park located near the Tema Development Corporation (TDC) saw the mounting of the statue of the first president of Ghana Dr Kwame Nkrumah and other statues in recognition of his vision to build Tema as the first well planned city in West Africa.

Mr Isaac Ashai Odamtten, Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, who made the call, said the Assembly was ready to start the second phase of the project.

Mr Odamtten made the call on Friday when OMA-Ghana, a shipping company, planted 50 trees at the park and positioned six benches there.

He said the second phase would see the construction of a dwarf wall with a gate around the park, a walkway, and greenery.
The park is also expected to have a resource centre, fountain, library, restaurant and areas for relaxation.

The MCE said as part of the collaboration, the Assembly would demarcate portions of the park to companies who partner TMA to mount their adverts.

Nana Osei Agyekum Kyere I I, Operations Manager of OMA Ghana, said his outfit has budgeted a total of 150,000 cedis to help beautify the park.

Nana Kyere added that as a shipping company in Tema, OMA Ghana saw it as a social responsibility to help develop the city.

He gave the assurance that the plants would receive the needed attention.
