Supplementary Budget Is A Ploy To Spend Our Money Lavishly Before Leaving Office!

Parliamentary Aspirant for Efutu of the People's Progressive Party (PPP), Nana Ofori Owusu says the Mahama government's budget as a "killer budget".

Finance Minister Seth Terkper is asking Parliament to approve GHC 1.8 billion to support the budget after huge revenue shortfall.

The Minister, who was in Parliament to present a mid-year budget review and a supplementary budget, in outlining government's achievements has noted that the government's homegrown policies are to reduce high budget deficit.

He further recounted that Ghana's economic growth is at 4.9 % by the first quarter of 2016 as compared to 4.5 percent last year.

Touching on the private sector, Mr. Tekper also stated that confidence in the private sector is being revived, adding that the country's currency has now become stable.

However, speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', the PPP Parliamentary candidate who doubles as an Investment Banker expressed doubts about the Minister's budget review.

According to him, the budget is merely a means by President John Mahama and his government to spend Ghana's money profusely without having any compassion for Ghanaians.

He told sit-in host Nana Yaw Kesse that the budget review is targeted by the government to rope in much money which will inure to the benefit of the Mahama administration.

They want to "misappropriate the country’s money left and right, and squander it indiscriminately. They will use it for politics and share it GHC 100 each to people. It’s a procurement budget," he said.

To him, President Mahama cannot empathize with Ghanaians but is only focused on how best he can amass wealth because he knows he would be voted out of power in this year's elections.

“Mahama does not have any compassion for Ghana. He wants to spend the money lavishly. Because you know he’s going home, you want to devise ways to destroy our country, squander our money and rip all our money . . .We are tired.”
