Montie 3: Alistair Down With Illness...Mugabe & Ako-Gunn Depressed

One of the panelist of ‘Pampaso’ show on Accra-based Montie FM who has been jailed by the Supreme Court is reportedly sick.

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Ekow Spio-Garbrah told NEAT FM’s morning show 'Ghana Montie' that Alistair Nelson was down with illness and couldn’t interact with him when he visited the trio convicts.

“Mugabe and Ako-Gunn are doing quite well but depressed. Alistair is not feeling well when I visited last Thursday. He was stuck in bed so I couldn’t see him for a conversation,” he said.

Alistair Nelson, Godwin Ako-Gunn and Salifu Maase, alias Mugabe, were sentenced to serve four months after being found guilty of contempt by the Supreme Court, for threatening the lives of the judges who were presiding over a case on the credibility of the voters’ register.

However, according to Mr Spio-Garbrah, the three are unhappy about their stay in prison and want to be pardoned – “Of course they were not happy to be in prison. I don’t think anybody serves prison sentence happily. We were able to laugh just to keep their spirits.”

He noted that the trio have shown remorse and hoping they will be pardoned by the President – “they have offended the law and had confessed that they were sorry for their actions, most people felt that as much as they deserved some punishment, the punishment might be on the lighter side.”
