Murder At Kaneshie

The Kaneshie District police have apprehended a 22-year-old head potter for allegedly stabbing his colleague to death.

The suspect, Kwame Adu, allegedly stabbed Frederick Gyasi Nimako, 22, with a broken bottle during a scuffle.

The body of Gyasi Nimako has since been deposited at the Police Hospital for preservation while investigations continue.

Confirming the incident to DAILY GUIDE, Superintendent Francis Somian, Kaneshie District Commander, said it occurred around 7pm on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at the Kaneshie-Takoradi lorry park.

He said both the deceased and the suspect were head potters at the park and that at about 7pm that fateful day, a passenger arrived at the lorry park with some luggage.

According to Superintendent Somian, the two men rushed to the passenger with intent to carry the luggage for a fee as they had always been doing.

Adu is said to have told Frederick that he (Adu) was the one authorised to carry the goods and this resulted in a fight but they were separated by people around.

After carrying the goods, Adu, who was still bitter, allegedly armed himself with the broken bottle to further attack Frederick Gyasi Nimako.

In the process, he purportedly stabbed Frederick in the neck with the broken bottle.

Blood oozed profusely and so Frederick was rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment where he died.

Some passengers and other head potters nearly lynched Adu, but for the timely intervention of the police. He was subsequently sent to the police station.

Meanwhile, he has provisionally been charged for murder and his docket has been forwarded to the Attorney General’s Department for advice.
