Residents of Moree near Cape Coast in the Central Region were recently thrown into a state of sorrow when word went round that a young man believed to be mentally deranged had attacked and butchered one, Aba Mansa, to death. Based upon the orders of a Cape Coast Circuit Court, Daniel Kyea alias Kwame Yeboah was sent to the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital for a checkup after which he was remanded into prison custody. P&P gathered that on September 15, 2009 at about 9 p.m., one Kojo Mobinye found Kyea loitering around his home. Suspecting he might be a thief since he could not explain his presence there, he was arrested and sent to the Moree Police. During interrogation, the suspected thief said he was traveling from Axim to Ekumfi Nakwa. He was therefore detained at the station till the following morning when he was taken to the lorry station to enable him pick a vehicle and continue his journey. At about 2:30 pm the next day, one Kweku Aluka reported to the Police again that he had spotted Kyea holding a blood stained machete and had chased him (informant) around. Based on this report, the Police quickly move to the scene only to find the deceased lying dead across a footpath. The deceased who was later identified as Aba Mansah was said to have gone to the bush for firewood where the suspect allegedly pounced and butchered her to death. When the body was inspected, a deep cut was found on the right side of her neck whilst. Kyea was later arrested.
