A-G Peddles Falsehood

Lawyers of Akwasi Osei Adjei, the former Foreign Minister, have sworn an affidavit before an Appeals Court, accusing the deputy Attorney-General, Ebo Barton-Odro, of peddling falsehood and making deliberate misrepresentations of the facts of a human rights case pending before the court. The affidavit noted that Ebo Barton-Odro had told the court that he had applied for, but had not yet received a copy of a High Court Order that the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) should release the passport of Mr Osei-Adjei. According to the lawyers, various search conducted at the Registry of the court showed that ;it is utterly untrue that the Attorney-Generals Department had applied for a copy of the ruling by the court as at the time the Deputy Attorney-General appeared before this Honourable court and made the statements. When Ebo Barton-Odro made the said claim before the Appeals court, he was able to get the court to adjourn the case indefinitely to enable the Attorney-Generals department get a certified copy of the ruling in question. The lawyers noted in the affidavit that what the deputy Attorney-General did was a deliberate misrepresentation of the fact and that the falsehood apparent from the statements by the learned Deputy Attorney General clearly epitomizes the falsehood with which all the depositions in the Applicants affidavit is laced, and was a deliberate attempt to frustrate the hearing of the instant application.
