An Accra Circuit Court on Thursday struck out a case involving one Isaac Oduro, a trader, who was said to have robbed one Phylis Opoku Afriyie of her IPone 5C mobile phone worth GH₵ 1,500.00.
The case was struck out for want of prosecution. The prosecution after a number of l adjournments has failed to present witnesses in the case to commence trial.
Isaac had pleaded not guilty to the charge but was remanded on April 15, by the court.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Chief Superintendent Duuti Tuaruka told the court that the complainant, Phylis lives at Dansoman, while Isaac is a trader living at Windy Hills, Pokuase.
He said on March 18, at about 1200 hours, Isaac met the complainant at a club house at Dansoman Junction, while sitting with her friends at a table, joined them and engaged the complainant in a conversation.
He said after a while, Isaac requested the complainant to assist him locate an ATM Machine at a nearest point to enable him withdraw money. She obliged and joined Isaac in a private car to Hansonic, Dansoman.
The prosecution said over there, Isaac went out to the ATM and returned shortly with an excuse that the machine was faulty so the complainant should redirect him to another station.
Chief Superintendent Tuaruka said Isaac drove towards Dansoman direction with the complainant on board. They got to a point around 0200 hours where he stopped by the road side, pulled a knife and ordered the complainant to undress failure to which he would stab her.
He told the court that the complainant for fear of her life obliged and removed her shorts and Isaac forcibly had sex with her. After the act, he pointed the knife at her again and ordered her to surrender her mobile phone.
He said Isaac collected her phone and dragged her out of the car and sped off.
With the help of a Good Samaritan, the complainant was sent to the police station, where she lodged a formal complainant.
He said Isaac went into hiding until he was arrested on April 11 from his hideout.
