Catalogue Of Lamentation And Interesting Soundbites Mornah On Bawumias Lecture

The General Secretary of the Peoples National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah has described as a ‘catalogue of lamentations’ claims made by the Vice Presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to him, everything Dr Mahamudu Bawumia said ‘makes interesting soundbites’.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia speaking in a lecture at the National Theatre pooh-poohed on the achievements of the ruling NDC administration.

He said President Mahama is “hoodwinking” Ghanaians by citing some supposed achievements, when in reality, he has achieved less.

“If you compare the total cost of infrastructure expenditure from loans, from taxes, and from grants from 2009 to 2016, it is less than $7 billion; meanwhile, the government has borrowed $39 billion…so where is the rest of the money?” he quizzed.

Bernard Mornah who was contributing to a panel discussion on Radio Gold’s Alhaji and Alhaji, said “his (Bawumia) speech makes interesting soundbites” because if some of the figures and claims mentioned by the NPP running mate is tested, it will prove that he was telling lies.

Even though he agrees with 'certain aspect of the speech', Bernard Mornah feels Dr Bawumia should have outlined solutions to the numerous challenges instead of just stating them; adding “it is to rehash the problems that we all know than necessarily telling us how he and his government will be attending to them… you can also describe it as a catalogue of lamentations”
