Ethiopian Government has reported seizing more than four tonnes of explosives and other arms from the Eastern Ethiopia rebel group, Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF).Ethiopia military said on Saturday, government troops raided the rebel ammunition store after one of the rebel commanders defected and surrendered. The defector was described as a commander who had fought against the government for the last 10 years.Ethiopia army reportedly seized the ammunition store located in Korahe, the border region with Somalia. They were acting on the tips offered by the defector. ONLF is fighting for independence of the ethnic Somalis, who have lived in region of Ogaden since 1970s. Ethiopia accuses the rebel group of terrorist activities with links to Somalia militants al-Shabab, and backed by Eritrea. ONLF denies the accusations. Meanwhile, Igad member states will on Wednesday hold a ministerial meeting to discuss the Comprehensive Peace Agreement in Sudan. The meeting will take place in Kampala, ahead of the African Union Special Summit on Refugees, Returnees and Internally Displaced Persons. All Igad member states are expected to attend. The aim of the ministerial meeting is to discuss the implementation of the CPA and more specifically look at ways and means to strengthen mutual confidence between the parties, the National Government in Khartoum and the Government of South Sudan.
