UEW TEIN holds meeting to receive new members

The Deputy Minister of Information, Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has cautioned members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who want to use the party to enrich themselves to discard that notion. Instead, members should channel their grievances through the appropriate quarters for redress, instead of moving from one radio station to another, slandering the Presidents and other ministers, he said. The Deputy Minister said this at the first general meeting of the University of Education, Winneba Branch, Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) of NDC, on Saturday, in Winneba. The meeting was under the theme "Nine Months of President Atta Mills, Better Ghana Agenda for All, Achievement and Prospects". He urged Ghanaians to continue to support the government, since it would offer answers to most of their problems before the end of its mandated four-year term. Mr James Kwame Mahamah, Branch President of TEIN, appealed to government to increase the number of teachers granted study leave with pay, to enable more teachers to attain higher education. Mr Mike Hammah, Minister of Transport and Member of Parliament for Effutu appealed to members of the party to continue to explain government programmes and policies to the people. Mr Samuel Zigah, a lecturer at UEW, who chaired the function, urged members of TEIN to educate people on the importance of maintaining peace and unity in the country, adding that, no country can develop without peace. A number of NDC activists attended the function.
