5 Perish After Satellites Victory

Five people lost their lives in a tragic accident at the weekend at Assin Nyankomase in the Assin North Constituency of the Central Region, following the Black Satellites victory over their Brazilian counterparts. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Peacefmonline, Dr. Nii Adjei Adjetey the Municipal Health Director said the accident occurred a few moments after the Black Satellites, Ghana�s Under�20 football team won the tournament in Egypt. Narrating the incident to Peacefmonline, Dr. Adjetey said after the match, about 30 people boarded a Kia truck from Assin Nyankomase. According to him, a 46year old driver of the articulator truck, Akwasi Owusu, which was heading towards Kumasi from Assin Fosu, collided head on with the Kia truck, which was on its way from Assin Nyankomase to Assin Fosu. In all, 27 people who sustained various body injuries, and were rushed to the St. Francis Xavier Hospital, are being attended to by the medical staff at the Hospital. The bodies of the victims, Akwasi Owusu 11, Yaw Barimah 18, Akwasi kuma 23, Kwame Donkor and Kofi Ahurennany, whose ages were not readily available as at the time of filing this report, are being kept at the St. Francis Xavier Hospital morgue at Assin Fosu. The driver of the KIA truck, Akwasi Owusu 46, has meanwhile, been discharged from the hospital.
