Dont Be The Next Gbese Mantse, Stay Away From Appointment Of MMDCE's- Chiefs Warned

To save traditional rulers from public ridicule, they have been cautioned to stay away from meddling in affairs that would lead to the appointments of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCE's) under the administration of the New Patriotic Party.

Convener for Concerned Youth in Politics, Hon George Opoku Amponsah conveyed this caution to our traditional authorities in a statement copied to Peacefmonline.com.

The group pleaded with our respected traditional rulers across Ghana to stay away from the appointment of MMDCE's and reminded them of the dirty backlash some chiefs faced for meddling in politics publicly.

“It is worthy of notice that, certain pronouncements by some chiefs in the run-up to the 2016 general elections has caused them gravely.

Classical examples are Oseadeyo Agyeman Badu of Dormaa Traditional Area and Nii Ayibonte of Gbese in the Ga Traditional Area.

Their active participation in partisan politics has made them principal actors in their ongoing character assassination”, a portion of the statement read.

The group therefore cautioned all Traditional rulers to desist from unwarranted lobbying and leave prospective candidates to be appointed on merit.
