Ex- President Mahama Has The Right To Choose A Residence MP For Effutu

Member of Parliament for Effutu in the Central Region, Hon. Alex Afenyo Markins has said former President John Dramani Mahama has a choice of where he wants to stay after his term of office.

According to him what has rather brought about the current fracas concerning the state bungalow is for him to select an official accommodation befitting an ex-president.

Speaking to UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ host, Yaa Konama during  a panel discussion, Hon. Afenyo Markins stressed “the Transition Team for 2012 and the laws of parliament have no space in their current laws that a former president can occupy the residence in which he has stayed in . . . The accommodation does not become his absolute property after staying in it for years; the place was formerly a state property belonging to the Cocoa Board that he changed into his official space.”

According to him, the property still belongs to the state and it is the same entity that should decide whether he still befits to occupy the place.
