Re: CHRAJ Chases Former Ghana Health Service Director Over 5 Stolen Vehicles

Re: CHRAJ Chases Former Ghana Health Service Director Over 5 Stolen Vehicles – A Case Of Mischief

The attention of the Ghana Health Service has been drawn to spurious and unfounded allegations being circulated in some print and electronic media regarding alleged stolen vehicles in the Upper East Region, which primarily aim at impugning the integrity of Dr. Koku Awoonor-Williams, the former Upper East Regional Director and the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service.

The Ghana Health Service therefore wishes to put on record that these allegations are completely false as no vehicles have been stolen or missing from the Service.

The Ghana Health Service takes strong exception to these false, mischievous and malicious publications   and the use of the social media to dent the integrity and reputation of hardworking staff of the Service who have over the years rendered meritorious services to the country and endeared themselves throughout their working life.

The Service wishes to put on record that Dr. Awoonor-Williams has done nothing untoward with respect to the management of the vehicles during his stewardship in the Upper Regional Health Directorate.

It is noteworthy that the Service has already provided all the relevant information with respect to these publications to CHRAJ, which initiated investigations into the issue when its attention was drawn to the alleged missing or stolen vehicles.

It is envisaged that this rejoinder will put to rest any misgivings that the public may have on the alleged “stolen” vehicles in the Upper East Regional Health Directorate of the Ghana Health Service.

Thank you.
