Mahama Ayariga Doesn't Deserve To Be In Parliament If,... - Nana B

Newly-appointed Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Secretariat (NSS), Nana Boakye says Hon. Mahama Ayariga does not deserve to be in Parliament.

Contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM's Kokrokoo on the bribery allegation against the Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko; Nana Boakye expressed his disappointment in the NDC MP for first resorting to the media over the bribery incident instead of making the revelations to the Speaker of Parliament.

According to him, Mr. Ayariga's first point of call should have been the Speaker and the Minority leadership before hopping onto Radio Gold to accuse Hon. Boakye Agyarko of bribing them to approve his appointment.

You didn’t complain to any person, Speaker and those there. Then you run to Radio Gold. Chairman, I find that irresponsible. Chairman, if you an MP and you know this issue is awful because if someone is bribing the legislators, it’s not a mere issue. It’s an issue which even has international implications.”

Nana Boakye believed that Mr. Ayariga has put himself in a tight corner because his prime witness, Minority Chief Whip Muntaka Mubarak has debunked the claims.

To him, there may be existing issues between some Minority MPs and their Chief Whip and so asked them to iron out their differences, saying "if they have issues with Haruna Iddrisu and Muntaka, they should deal with that. They should deal with it internally because what we’re doing is a national exercise.”

Nana Boakye cast doubts over the allegations, saying Mahama Ayariga has not been able to provide concrete evidence to his claims.

He held that there's no basis for the claims but he however would not fully exonerate the Energy Minister.

He called for further probe into issue and asked Parliament to sanction any party that is found guilty of an offence.

He stressed that if it turns out that Mahama Ayariga made a baseless accusation, then “I don’t think Hon. Mahama Ayariga deserve to be in Parliament.
