Apeatu D/A JHS At Amanase In Dilapidated State; Students Cry For Help

Barely few weeks ago six pupils were killed in the Central Region by the collapse of a school building.

Another disaster looms at Apeatu District Assembly(D/A) Junior High School at Amanase located in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern region where pupils are now studying in a nearly collapse life-threatening building which has developed several cracks and has no firm support.

Students are risking their lives in pursuit of education as they study in a dilapidated school structure that has not seen renovation over 60 years since its inception.

The uncompleted classrooms of the school have developed serious cracks leaving the weak blocks shaky while it is touched.

The situation, according to the school authorities, threatens the lives of both teachers and the 163 student populationas well as having negative effect on studies.

Assistant Head teacher of the school, Mr.Delali Antonio shared their plight with the UTV's news team.

Akuffo Darko Stephen an ICT teacher in the school appealed to benevolent bodies, philanthropists and government to intervene to save the school from any future disaster.

Some students of the school also shared their grievances with the news team.
