A 39-year-old man identified as Mr. Quarshie has committed suicide after shooting his wife at Gomoa Nyamebekyere near Gomoa Dominase in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
Quarshie, who sources said was very sound and healthy, shot his wife, Mayera, 37, in the chest close to her heart and also shot himself in the same way with his single barrel gun.
He died on the spot but his wife was pronounced death shortly after arrival at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital.
Briefing the media, the Gomoa Dominase Unit Committee Chairman, Mr. Kojo Otsiba stated that they heard gunshots from the house of the deceased around 4:30 a.m., on Monday, February 13, 2017and rushed there only to find his wife in a pool of blood at the entrance.
According to him, they quickly rushed her to the hospital but she was pronounced dead on arrival.
He added that not long afterwards, Mr. Quarshie also killed himself and died immediately.
A family member, Madam Gifty Annan, stated that there was no quarrel or problem between the couple who got married just a year ago.
According to her, the couple even prepared fufu (a local delicacy) and soup which they ate together as a happy family the previous night and could not understand what could have triggered Quarshie’s weird action.
