Make Traveling On Volta Lake Safe - Moderator

The Right-Reverend Francis Amenu, Moderator of the Evangelical Presbyterian (EP) Church, Ghana has called on the government to provide reliable and safe means of transport on the Volta Lake to end the fatal accidents on the water body. The Moderator expressed the need for the Executive to commit resources to make commuting on the lake safe and comfortable to avoid the loss of lives and property. Rt. Rev. Amenu made the call when he consecrated 12 Presbyters of the West Volta of the Church at South Senchi near Kpong in the Eastern Region. He called for the ban of the use of small canoes as public transport on the lake. On behalf of the church, the moderator expressed condolence to the relatives of the 18 people who lost their lives in the last October disaster on the lake. Rev. G.F.K. Amegbe of the Kpong District of the church said in a sermon that Christians should abstain from things that could hinder their communications with God. Rt. Rev. Andrew Prassad Moderator of the United Reform Church of North Thames in the UK, who is visiting Ghana in connection with a sister relationship with the EP Church affirmed his commitment towards the programme.
