Newly Elected CAF President Receives Rousing Welcome In Home Country Madagascar

After mauling Cameroonian Issah Hayatou in the CAF Presidential election held in Adis Ababa on Thursday, newly elected President of the Confederation Ahmad Ahmad landed home to a rousing welcome.

The new kid on the block was received by the Advisor of the President of Madagascar, the Minister of Sports, the Senate and some deputies in a colourful ceremony.

The victory which is a national achievement for the small Island also saw leaders of some major sports federations in Madagascar gracing the occasion.

Ahmad Ahmad floored incumbent Issah Hayatou with a 14 votes margin to oust him from office, a position the Cameroonian has held for 29 years.

Ahmad who has promised to right the wrongs of the Hayatou regime is presented with an audacious task of transforming the game and defining the future of Africa football.

The primary task that all will be expecting the Ahmad led leadership to redefine is the 12 years broadcast right the Hayatou regime handed to Lagardere Sports which runs until 2028.
