Kintampo Falls Accident “Unfortunate” - Tourism Minister

Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts ministry has expressed its condolences to families of people who lost their lives in Sunday’s Kintampo Waterfalls disaster.

The Minister, Catherine Afeku in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show 'Ghana Montie' described the incident as “unfortunate”. 

“We extend our condolences to the families of the dead and pray for the injured who have been rushed to the Kintampo and Techiman General Hospitals,” she said. 

Mrs. Afeku added that the “Ghana Tourism Authority will work closely with the Ghana Police and the Kintampo District Assembly to ensure the families receive the needed support and information.

18 students have been confirmed dead at the Kintampo Waterfalls in the Brong Ahafo region after trees crashed on them following a heavy storm on Sunday.

Eyewitnesses say the heavy trees fell from the top of the waterfalls and landed on the people, mostly students who had gone to swim.
