Chinese Enterprises in the Ghana have begun a vigorous exercise to recruit more Ghanaians, especially graduates into their firms.
This move is to deepen the bilateral relationships between the two countries and further strengthen the economic ties existing between the Ghana and China.
To achieve this, a recruitment fair organised by the Confucius Institute was held at the campus of the University of Ghana where over 30 Chinese companies assembled to recruit students.
Speaking in an interview with The Finder, the Chairman of the Chinese Enterprises in Ghana, Mr Tang Hong, said they are trying to minimise their Chinese staff hence the collaboration between them and the university.
He said as part of the plans, they would want most of the managerial positions to be occupied by Ghanaians to help reduce graduate unemployment in the country.
Mr Hong described the relationship between the two countries as one of the best and hopes that continues for a long period.
The Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Ghana, Chai Zhijing, said the Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana has been playing an important role in enhancing the cultural exchange between China and Ghana.
He said the recruitment would promote development of the two countries’ economy which will not only solve the needs of the Chinese Enterprises but also provide the Ghanaian student with job opportunity.
On his part, the Pro Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Samuel Offei, said the move was to engage the Chinese business community to offer job opportunities.
He said it was his hope that each of the over 30 companies could employ, at least, two students each to reduce the high rate of graduate unemployment.
The fair was sponsored by the Confucius Institute headquarters in China and co-hosted by the Ghana Chinese News and Sunda (GH) Investment Company Limited.
Companies that participated offered varities of jobs like trade, marketing, computer, culture, education, hotel services, construction, mining and others.
