Ibrahim Mahama Admires Nana Addo’s Leadership Style - Alhaji Bature

Alhaji Bature, Managing Editor of the Alhajj Newspaper has revealed that brother of Former President John Dramani Mahama, Ibrahim Mahama believes in the leadership qualities of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and will be the last person to attempt to defraud the state.

“This is someone who is lauding the president behind the scenes for his efforts to empower local businesses. He is a proud Ghanaian and will be the last person to engage in acts that will be detrimental to the state. His brother was the president but he was full of praise for Nana Addo for promising policies that will empower the local businessman because it appears businesses in Ghana have been taken over by expatriates”, he said on Adom Tuesday.

According to him, Ibrahim Mahama has not committed any crime indicating that there are several businesses in Ghana who have made such arrangements with the Ghana Revenue Authority in time past.

While indicating that the former president’s brother wish to see the current president succeed, he stated that he has always been a law abiding citizen who believes in the rule of law contrary to description by maverick politician Kennedy Agyepong that he is a criminal.

On claims of 44 dud cheques of an alleged non-existent account he said “there is nothing like that. The said account does not belong to Ibrahim Mahama and the claims he presented 44 cheques is also false”

Alhaji Bature’s comments follow Mr. Mahama’s invitation by EOCO for questioning over some dud cheques he issued to the Customs division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) at the Tema Ports to clear some heavy duty equipment he imported into the country.

Ibrahim Mahama, who is the brother of former President John Mahama, is at the centre of import scandal which has persisted in the media since last week.

He was subsequently ordered to pay GH¢12.7m to the Ghana Revenue Authority by May 8, 2017.

The amount represents duty for goods he cleared at the Tema Port with the said dud cheques in 2015 plus interest. The interest on the amount was worked by the Ghana Revenue Authority.
