Radford University Launches 2017 Fashion Show

The Fashion and Design students of Radford University College (RUC) have exhibited some talent of creativity when the school officially launched its 2017 fashion show at their forecourt.

The main event is schedule on May 27, at the plush Kempiski hotel in Accra – patrons would see the fashion students displaying on stage some artistic collections and designs.

Organizers of the event have compared upcoming event to the fashion shows at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.

This will be RUC’s 5th edition of the fashion show – the school has made fashion-design an integral part of its curricula.

The school can boast of promising designer, Papa Oppong who was the best fashion design graduate of RUC and was featured on international news network CNN.

Speaking at the launch, Head of the Fashion Department at Radford University, Yvonne Ntiamoah urged students to endeavor in the fashion industry after describing it as more lucrative business venture.

She however noted that, the fashion industry can rejuvenate to Ghana ailing economy just like it is being done in countries like the United Kingdom and Italy.

"The London fashion week contributes about 28 billion pounds directly to the UK economy in 2014 according to oxford economics. But in Ghana the situation is different," she bemoaned.

Yvonne Ntiamoah, therefore, called on the Minister of Trade and Industry to support the fashion industry to flourish.
