Editorial: Good Job, Ghana Police!

The Accra Regional Police Command, in conjunction with the Kumasi and Aflao Police, have arrested a group of four suspected armed robbers and killed two others. The six were apprehended in a joint operation by various police commands after a tip-off that they were engaged in armed robbery. It subsequently emerged that they are a group of robbers who specialize in high-risk robberies such as bullion van robbery. They are suspected to have killed at least one police officer in the course of their dastardly operations! We at the Daily Searchlight would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to the men and women of the Ghana Police Service for this particular series of arrests. Of late, it has become commonplace for one to be regaled with news that groups of robbers had attacked various sensitive institutions, most notably banks. For sometime, it has looked as if the police were at their wits end in resolving these atrocious crimes, and it gladdens our heart that the police have gotten this breakthrough. Indeed, as the police often insist, they can only fight crime effectively if they receive maximum cooperation from members of the public. In that direction, we commend the people who leaked the information to the police for their patriotism, and we hope that other Ghanaians would emulate this shining example!
