‘Stop Invoking Curses On Each Other’

Mr Kofi Peprah, the Aduana Ankaase Abusua Panyin has called on the people of Hweehwee community in the Kwahu East District to desist from invoking curses on each other as that could scare potential investors in the area.

He said the community was noted for invoking curses on each other anytime there was a little misunderstanding, a situation he said could retard their development agenda.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of an ultra-modern toilet facility at Hweehwee, he said the rampant cases of curses that some individuals involved themselves in brought down the economic activities in the area, as investors avoided them.

He added that, with the construction of the toilet facility for the community, there was the need for health officers to educate the people in the community on the need to practise proper personal hygiene in order to maintain the facility.
Mr Benjamin Addo, Project Coordinator of Fason, a Switzerland based Non-Profitable Organisation (NGO), said the ultra-modern 12 vault chamber toilet facility was constructed at the cost of GHS 130,000.00 and would generate biogas in support of the School Feeding Programme in some selected public schools in the area.

The beneficiary schools were; the Hweehwee Presbyterian Primary and the Hweehwee D/A Basic Schools.
He said the project was realised through the NGO a year ago with the objective of curbing the rampant open defecation in the area as it would serve over 2000 people.

The project, he said would also generate revenue for the community to be channeled into developmental projects adding that all necessary arrangements in providing water for the facility had been carried out to ensure its smooth running.
He noted that it was part of the organisation’s social responsibility to ensure proper sanitation in deprived areas and also to create employment for the people.

He explained that the facility had been equipped with sophisticated machines that would recycle waste water to be reserved for reuse.

He said plans were underway to construct a kitchen for the beneficiary schools in the area to strengthen the School Feeding Programme.

Nana Akyemfo Asiedu Agyemang, the Adontenhene and acting Omanhene of Kwahu Traditional Area applauded Fason for the kind gesture and urged the other rich Kwahu citizens to come and support Abetifiman to help bring development
