We Should Chase "Galamsey" Workers Even In Darkness - Kabila

James Kwabena Bomfeh has called on State authorities not to relent on their efforts to chase out illegal miners from the country.

Commenting on the issue of illegal mining, popularly called "galamsey" on PeaceFM's "Kokrokoo", the CPP stalwart held strongly that the illegal miners shouldn't be given a breathing space to operate.

He outlined some consequences of the operations of the illegal miners or "galamseyers", saying their activities are not only destroying rivers but also pose a threat to the sea as well.

To him, illegal mining is very dangerous and so believed there should be collective efforts to curb the menace.

Mr. Kwabena Bomfeh, also called Kabila, urged all State institutions to execute their duties effectively, adding that should the institutions begin to work; the State will win the fight against galamsey.

For the mere fact that they’re going in the night, under the cover of darkness, shows that we’re making some gains. Fear has gripped some people. We shouldn’t retreat under the impression that we’ve finished our mission because we’ve been able to repress them. We are not done yet. We should chase them even in the darkness,” he said.
