Two persons have been hauled before an Accra circuit court for allegedly circulating naked photoshopped photographs of actress Destina Tata on social media.
They are Chantal Nunekpeku, beautician and Kayode Kolade, music producer.
The victim’s pictures were part of some purported nude photographs that circulated on instagram – a social media -last week.
According to the prosecution, the accused persons committed the act during the month of January this year without authority.
Charged with conspiracy to commit crime and offences relating to obscenity, the two accused persons, who are reported to be engaged in a relationship, denied the charges.
Andrew Kudjo Vortia, lawyer for the accused persons, said the accused persons were on police enquiry bail and urged the court to grant his clients bail.
He contended that the accused persons were also not flight risks.
The court, presided over by Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku, admitted the two to bail in the sum of GH¢10,000 with two sureties each and adjourned the case until June 21.
The complainant is a movie actress residing at Awoshie, a suburb of Accra.
The accused persons are said to be in amorous relationship and are staying together at Sowutuom, also in Accra.
Destina, according to the prosecution, also happens to be the ex-girlfriend of Kayode. On January 23, this year, the accused persons took snapshots of Destina which she had uploaded on social media, and photoshopped them with somebody’s nude photographs to create an erroneous impression that the nude photographs are those of Destina and posted same on instagram and ascribed the complainant’s name to them.
They went viral on social media; the matter was reported to the police and the accused persons were subsequently arrested.
Chantal admitted sending the photoshopped nude photographs on social media out of jealousy.
