NADMO Acts To Prevent Flooding

The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has scaled up the effort to prevent flooding in the New Juaben Municipality.

The Organization acting together with the municipal assembly had carried out massive exercise to remove silt and garbage from open drains to allow the free flow of rain water.

Added to this is intense public education to help the residents do the rights things.

Mr. Alfred Agyeman, NADMO’s Municipal Head of Disaster and Operations, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that it had set up volunteer groups, which had been visiting the communities and schools to talk people out of littering the streets.

Everybody needed to show responsibility and do away with unhealthy practices like throwing rubbish and dumping human waste into gutters and open drains, he added.

This, he indicated was necessary, as the rains set in.
