NDC, NPP Ganged Up With EC Against Me – Nduom

The founder and leader of the Progress People’s Party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Ndoum, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP) of ganging up with the Electoral Commission (EC) to derail his presidential ambition last year.

Addressing a news conference in Accra yesterday, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom lamented that he does not have faith in the electoral system of the country any longer. According to him, his opponents were bent on eliminating the PPP from the contest, so as to have one of them win the election. “The Progressive People’s Party believes that there were some collaborators, and we have in much way identified the Electoral Commission.

“We may have, in many ways, identified the two leading political parties as being the principals in making sure that eh Progressive People’s Party was submerged, so that we would be neutralized and not have an impact on their chances of winning the 2016 elections,” he stated.

It would be recalled that the PPP was disqualified from contesting the 2016 presidential election for some irregularities identified by the EC. The party, unhappy with the disqualification, went to court to nullify the decision of the EC. The party was subsequently allowed to contest the election, but performed poorly.

Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, in particular, had said he would never forget October 10, 2016, the day the party was disqualified. But he still resolute, saying: “Don’t underestimate the will of the determined and the progressive.”

Whilst addressing the journalists, the renowned entrepreneur and political guru charged Ghanaians not to sit aloof and allow the EC to decide for the country outside the rule of law.
