New Juaben Atipimhene presents computers to schools

The Atipimhene of the New Juaben Traditional Area, Nana Kwame Baafi Boateng, had presented four computers and accessories and a printer to Jumapo Rev. Fr. Safo Memorial Anglican Junior High School (JHS) at Jumapo. Making the presentation Nana Boateng said the items were to help pupils of the school to be abreast with the use of computers early to enable them to grow up to compete on the job market. Nana Boateng said he added a printer to the items to enable teachers to print their examination questions on the computer. He said that would help prevent the situation where the pupils and their parents would be required to pay for the printing of their examination questions outside the school and promised to provide more equipment to the school. Nana Boateng recalled that two years ago he presented four computers to the Suhyen Methodist Primary School and last year he increased the number to 10. He said last year he also donated books to the Suhyen community library and that he would donate books to the Koforidua Library as his contribution to the raising of standard of education in the New Juaben Municipality. The items were received on behalf of the school by the Eastern Regional Manager of Anglican Schools, Mr Peter Otoo. He expressed his appreciation for the donation and said Information and Communication Technology (ICT) had been introduced as an examinable subject at the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) but the government is yet to present the schools with computers to enable the children to have practical training on the use of the computer.
