Gyan And Atsu Likely To Miss Egypt Clash

Ghana Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan is likely to miss the World Cup qualifier against Egypt on Sunday after picking up an injury during the team’s training.

The Black Stars skipper, who trained separately on Monday during the opening session of the training, limped off the training grounds as he could not continue the training.

The team, which is also likely to miss the Newcastle winger Christian Atsu continued the training session, with all 21 players present though Patrick Twumasi and Harris Afful arrived late.

Gyan speaking to the media on after the team’s training session confirmed his injury saying “yes I am injured, I cannot give the extent of the injury. For now I am feeling some pains alright, it might be serious or not but I would go for a scan to confirm the extent of the injury”.

Atsu, who according to sources picked up his injury whilst playing for his club but was invited.

He also sat out of training and would undergo further tests to determine his availability for the game on Sunday.

Though Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has consistently said the game is being used to build a team for the future, the Stars are poised to protect a reputation, which seems fallen.

Egypt has already qualified for the Russia 2018 world cup and would use the game as a rehearsal for future matches.
