The Former Minister of Tourism and Diasporan Relations, in the erstwhile NPP administration, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, is the latest to join in the long list of President Mills� critics both within and out of government. According to the NPP stalwart, �President Mills and his campaign team ran on what has turned out to be a host of lies� during their campaign last year. He said, �the NDC lied about the NPP, they told lies about Nana Akuffo Addo, then presidential candidate, and they also lied to Ghanaians about what they were going to do when given the mandate to rule.� The former NPP Campaign Manager told Citi Fm that the NDC has reneged on its words to better the living conditions of Ghanaians whiles other countless promises they made, have also all not been kept. �Are we going to believe him, are we going to turn round and give them our country to run again?� he asked. �I think the NDC did a disservice to the democratic process by running a campaign based solely on lies and propaganda. There had to be some level of truth, some level of real expectation from the manifesto that they put out,� he added. He referred to the instance whereby the NDC allegedly peddled lies about the economy during its campaign, eventhough he (Jake) claims the NDC was fully aware of the true state of the economy. �Yet, they turned round and said they were going to drastically reduce fuel prices...if you know the economy is bad, and you know that revenue is one of the key things to help you run a government you do not then make a promise�,specific promise about reducing petrol prices and, within a few more weeks start the whole process of increasing petrol prices,� he stated. In recent times, some influential government functionaries have condemned the Mills� government, describing it as being slow in addressing the needs of Ghanaians and also implementing its campaign promises. Some have even gone as far as describing the caliber of President Mills� team as �mediocre, boot-lickers and sycophants.� The Founder of the NDC party, Ex-President Jerry John Rawlings, first led the crusade chastising President Mills� government on that issue, followed by CEO of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO), Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, President of the 31st December Women�s Movement, Mrs. Konadu Rawlings, Majority leader, Hon Alban Sumana Kinsford Bagbin, and some other notable parliamentarians.
