Mustapha Hamid Replies Mahama

Minister of Information has asked the office of former President John Dramani Mahama not to put pressure on the ruling government to settle him but to exercise a bit of restraint.

According to him, government now has to contend with the wellbeing of two former heads of state and questioned why the Mahama administration did not settle former President John Agyekum Kufuor when they were in office.

Even ex-President Kufuor has not been given his accommodation yet since 2009 when he left office…That therefore puts the pressure of settling two former presidents on us, and they had only one president to provide for and couldn’t complete it...” he said.

The minister’s comment follows remarks made by Special Aide to the former President, Joyce Bawa Mogtari.

Madam Mogtari described as 'false and most unfortunate' allegation that the former President was occupying a military land.

According to her, the former President was asked to vacate the land; adding, the ruling government must "take care of ex-presidents better and not in the manner currently being done".

Speaking on Accra based Joy FM on Thursday, 14 December 2017, in response to Madam Mogtari's comment, Mr Hamid pleaded with the former President to be ‘patient’

“…so they should be patient with us, we are pleading with them” he urged.
