Energy Commission has introduced a new application, ‘Certified Refrigerating App,’ which is aimed at tracking unauthorised refrigerators on the Ghanaian market.

The app, when installed, gives the consumer the list of all the brands of fridges, their specifications, its ratings and power consumption. It also gives the buyer value for money.

Introducing the new application to appliance importers in Accra, Acting Director General of Energy Commission, Kofi Agyarko, said the introduction of the app was in conformity with the commission’s agenda of reposing confidence in the buyer when purchasing electrical gargets and also to eliminate fake fridges on the Ghanaian market.

According to him, about 98% of the importers are already complying with the commission in its quest to push uncertified products off the market.

Mr Agyarko, therefore, assured importers that fraudulent persons when caught will be arrested and be made to face the law.
