3 Grabbed Over Fake Lab Results

Three persons, including the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sparkle Diagnostic Centre at Korle-Bu, have been arrested by the Korle-Bu Police for allegedly using the letterheads of Accumed Diagnostic Centre to print fake laboratory results for patients.

The suspects are Timothy Abu Achaab, the CEO of Sparkle Diagnostic centre, Evans Brown, a laboratory technician of the centre and Esther Mensah, a secretary at Accumed Diagnostic Centre.

Esther Mensah, according to police reports, often gave the letterheads of Accumed Diagnostic Centre to the workers of Sparkle Diagnostic Centre to print the fake results for patients.

She is said to have directed some patients who throng Accumed Disgnostic Centre to Sparkle Diagnostic Centre for the fake results to be printed for them.

Doctors at the Korle- Bu Teaching Hospital complained about the authenticity of reports from Accumed Diagnostic Centre to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Alhaji Azeez.

The CEO suspected foul play and reported the case to the Korle-Bu Police Station to carry out investigations.

ASP Billy Graham, the Crime Officer in-charge of the Korle- Bu Police Station, when contacted, said the police begun investigations into the matter on May 10, 2017.

The police, in the course of investigations, discovered that a laboratory named Sparkle Diagnostic Centre opposite Korle-Bu Teching Hospital was using the letterhead of Accumed Diagnostic Centre to operate and arrested the CEO and the laboratory technician of the centre.

A search conducted at the facility revealed letterheads of different laboratories including that of Accumed with results printed on one of them.

Further investigations revealed that Esther leaked the letterhead to her accomplices to print the fake results.

“It was also established that Sparkle Diagnostic Centre had also designed software that prints the fake lab results on Accumed’s letterheads.

He said the three suspects, who have been granted police enquiry bail, would soon be arraigned before court.
