Most Ghanaian Gospel Musicians Are Drunkards — Akosua Agyapong

‘Evergreen’ musician, Akosua Agyapong has levelled allegations on the doorsteps of some gospel musicians claiming that they drink alcohol before stage performances.

The veteran musician in an interview with Dr Pounds on Hitz Gallery on Hitz FM made the allegation. Akosua Agyapong according to her has witnessed gospel musicians drink alcohol before mounting the stage to perform.

The ‘Frema’ hitmaker shared a personal experience on how a bandleader advised her to take in alcohol before mounting the stage in order to overcome shyness when she faces the crowd. She refused to heed the advice of the bandleader according to her.

“Some of our gospel musicians drink alcohol before they get on stage and it is very heartbreaking,” Akosua said.

Akosua Agyapong could not get the ‘balls’ to mention names of gospel musicians who drink alcohol but admonished actors, musicians and all those in the industry to be role models for the upcoming ones.

“Some people don’t really pay attention when the sermon is being preached; some even sleep but immediately get up when they start singing gospel songs. People actually pay heed to the words of Gospel song so I’m begging our gospel musicians to change,” she pleaded.
