‘Pardon Agogo People In Prison’-Residents To Nana Addo

Residents of Agogo in the Asante Akyem North District of the Ashanti region have called on President Nana Addo to pardon Agogo people who have been jailed following disputes with Fulani nomads in the area.

The residents speaking after their meeting with the Regional Security Council revealed some people of Agogo have been remanded into prison custody for allegedly killing Fulani herdsmen.

They added, “our people have done nothing wrong to be in prison”.
“We don’t know why some of our people are still in prison for killing Fulani herdsmen. They have done nothing wrong but they they protect themselves when the Fulani herdsmen attacked them. The Fulani herdsmen have killed some of our family members and they are still enjoying their freedom. We are appealing to President Nana Addo to address our concerns” they said.

The Residents however commended the Inspector General of Police(IGP), for transferring Agogo District Police Commander, DSP Samuel Azugu.
According to them, DSP Samuel Azugu was in bed with the Fulani herdsmen and always protect them instead of protecting the residents from attacks by the herdsmen.

“We now believe that government is committed to clamp down Fulani herdsmen from Agogo. At first government was joking as far Fulani issues are concerned” they said.
