GHALCA G8: Medeama Record Victory Over Hearts To Secure Place In Semis

Accra Hearts of Oak fell to a two nil defeat at the hands of Medeama in the second game of the 2018 GHALCA G8 tournament.

First half strikes from Kwame Boateng and Agyenim Boateng in a space of seven minutes ensured Hearts suffered their first defeat of the year and of the GHALCA 8 tournament.

The Phobians had a good chance to find the opener but Reginald Thompson’s close hand header came off the crossbar whilst Medeama took their first real chance following a counter attack with Kwame tucking home from close range.

Hearts were dealt another blow just as they appeared to gain supremacy in the game when Agyenim outmuscled Richard Akrofi to double Medeama’s lead.

Malik Akowuah and Cosmos Dauda were both denied by two superb saves from goalkeeper Yaw Ansah, who made it difficult for Hearts to find a way back into the game later in the first half.

Hearts gained territorial advantage and supremacy in the second half but anytime they went close, goalkeeper Ansah was on hand to deny the Phobians – clawing out Inusah’s goal bound header late in the game.
