Aggrieved GPRTU Members Lock Up Ho Office

Some aggrieved members of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) Branch 2 in Ho on Wednesday locked up the offices of the Union in protest over unpaid bonuses.

The members alleged that they had not received their yearly bonuses for the past three years and wanted it paid immediately.

Mr Lawrence Attitoe, leader of the aggrieved members, said they were also not happy with how Mr Michael Sonkro, the Chairman of the Union, also allegedly vacated the office for the past six months and had refused to pay the expected bonuses.

He said until the bonuses are paid, the offices would remain locked and called on the executives to “do the right thing” to be allowed entry to the offices.

Meanwhile, Mr Sonkro said he was no longer the Chairman of the Union and urged the members to contact the “current executives”.

The police were around to ensure calm prevails.
