Massive Shake-Up Hits MMT

CREDIBLE information reaching Today indicates that there is an on-going massive nationwide shake-up exercise within the Metro Mass Transit (MMT) Limited, which situation is creating panic and tension in the state-owned transport service providing company.

The reshuffle, Today gathered, has seen the current Head of the Communications at MMT, Miss Bernice Akologo, replaced by Mr. George Krobea Asante as the new Communications Manager, who was appointed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo recently.

And in an interview with Today yesterday, Miss Akologo confirmed that she has been replaced by Mr. Asante.

Head of the Marketing Department, MMT, Mr. Raphael Sackey, has been replaced by Miss Akologo. He has thus been reassigned to the Head, Parcel Service Department of MMT.

Similarly, Head of Finance, MMT, has also been moved to the Corporate Management of the company while the Manager in-charge of the Bolga office of MMT, has been brought to the MMT headquarters in Accra. However, sources close to MMT could not tell exactly what he would be doing at the head office.

The sources at the MMT headquarters at Kaneshie in Accra who disclosed this information to Today on Saturday, January 21, 2018 stated that the Akufo-Addo administration has sanctioned that these workers and others who are holding strategic positions of the company should be replaced and re-assigned.

The President last week appointed Mr. Asante to head the Communications Department of MMT, which received wide endorsement by some past TESCON executives.

In a statement signed and issued by the former TESCON President of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Mr. Emmanuel Boakye Yiadom and former TESCON President of Christian Service University College, Nana Osei Owusu Agyemang and copied to Today on Saturday, January 20, 2018 it commended President Akufo-Addo for appointing Mr. Asante.

The sources hinted that the ongoing reshuffle exercise at the MMT will continue this week, starting from today [Monday, January 22, 2018] and will end in March 2018, adding that other officers at MMT who had been tagged National Democratic Congress (NDC) sympathisers would also be transferred to some areas.

According to our sources, the MMT headquarters was not the only region in the country that would be affected by the shakeup at MMT by the ruling party.

The sources disclosed that plans were far afoot by the presidency to order ministry of transport to direct management of MMT to replace MMT officials holding key and very sensitive positions across the country, with those that are known to be staunch NDC members.
