The Central Regional Minister, Mr Kwamena Duncan, said the government would not tolerate apathy on the part of public servants towards government policies.
He noted that it was required of public servants to work hard to ensure that the policies rolled out by the government were successful.
Mr Duncan was speaking at a meeting of heads of decentralised departments in Cape Coast last Tuesday.
“A certain level of inertia towards government policies and programmes that will derail efforts at achieving our set goals will not be tolerated,” he stated emphatically.
He noted that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, like every government, meant well for the people of Ghana and was committed to bettering the living conditions of all Ghanaians.
Particular of note, he said, was the government’s efforts at providing the teeming unemployed youth with employment opportunities.
He said the government, through its several interventions, including the Planting for Food and Jobs Programme and the One-district, One-factory programme, was working to create jobs and reduce the unemployment situation in the country.
“A large number of young people with energy but with nothing to do is a security issue,” he said of the high unemployment situation in the country.
Mr Duncan indicated that no one was safe in an environment where a huge number of its youth was unemployed.
He, therefore, urged the heads of departments to work harder to deliver services that would accelerate the region’s socio-economic development.
