Prez Akufo-Addo Mourns Ebony

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says he is saddened by the death of dancehall artiste Ebony Reigns.

Ebony died in a car crash on Thursday, 8 February 2018.

“Saddened by the news of the death of the young but extremely talented female artiste, Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, aka Ebony Reigns. By all accounts, she had a very promising music career. My deepest condolences to her family, and to the families of the two others who died in the tragic accident,” Nana Akufo-Addo said in a tweet.

Ebony was involved in the crash when she was returning from Sunyani after a visit to her mum. Her jeep head-on collided with a VIP bus and she died on the spot.

Ebony died along with two other passengers in her car: a young lady and a military man.

The driver of the jeep, however, survived and is receiving treatment.

Ebony, known in private life as Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, was discovered by renowned musician Bullet of Ruff n Smooth fame when she sent a recording of her voice and was signed to his Rufftown record label just a day after listening to the recording.

Ebony came out with her first single, "Dancefloor", in December 2015. The song became a hit on radio landing her nomination for the unsung category at the 2016 Ghana Music Awards. In March 2016, Ebony released her major hit single "Kupe".

Her latest song “Maame Hwe” is enjoying massive airplay across the country.
