State Of Insecurity Alarming; Tackle It Now! - Amissah-Arthur To Prez Akufo-Addo

Former Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has called on President Akufo-Addo to swiftly find a lasting antidote to the high level of insecurity in the country.

According to him, if the present administration does not address the current state of insecurity with some urgency, it might escalate and cripple the economic fabric of the country.

Mr Amissah-Arthur, who was speaking to a section of the press, noted that “when I travel outside Ghana, quite a lot of people are worried about the insecurity issues that’s going on and political vigilante groups that are able to defy the police and the judiciary, and free their people even in court”.

What to him is even more disheartening, he added, was the fact that during the 2018 State of the Nation’s Address by Nana Akuffo-Addo, the President woefully failed to touch on the most important issue that the nation is grappling with; insecurity.

He therefore advised President Akufo-Addo and his government "to be proactive at this time in our country because people feel afraid and suspect that a lot of criminal activities of armed robberies are sponsored through political vigilante groups…that’s a concern of people, then its extends to ethnic conflicts and so on. So, this simple thing if it’s not tackled will have ramifications for all manner of things”.
