VETTING Of SP: Martin Amidu Causes Stir...Says He Has "No Children"

The Special Prosecutor nominee, Martin Amidu on Tuesday caused uproar when he appeared before Parliament's Appointment Committee.

Member of Parliament for North Tongu constituency, Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa wanted to know why he wrote the ages of his children instead of their number.

In response he said "honestly, I was going to say no child" because 'they are adults".

According to him, once they are adults, he has no obligation or responsibility over them; hence they are "not my children"

I have no responsibility for these people. So, as far as I’m concerned, they are not my children. If you go to the UK and tamper with anybody of this age, you will go to jail. So it’s because of the ambiguity of the question that I put those names there but my family matters are private.”

Some members of the Committee tried to explain to him to accept that the three are his children no matter their ages; however he insisted that they are not his children, adding that "is my his opinion".
