GYGG Calls For Unity In NDC

A group calling itself the Ghanaian Youth For Good Government (GYGG) has noted with great concern the fact that, for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to remain in power and continue to provide good leadership to the people of Ghana, it must continue to attract the confidence and support of the people and must not only be united, but must also be seen by Ghanaians as united. The GYGG, who said they have been closely watching the activities of government, indicated that, unfortunately the NDC do not appear to Ghanaians as a united party at the moment. The Spokesperson for the group, Ali Abdul Razak, who addressed the press on behalf of the group, stated that, it does not matter that we may believe that we remain united and common in purpose when the rest of Ghanaians think otherwise. According to him, although there are disagreements, internal difficulties as well as power struggle in the NDC, members must be circumspect in their utterances and maintain their cohesion to provide the necessary support for the government of President Mills. The group also noted that, recent developments in the party, if not checked, will derail the partys vision and erode the goodwill it is currently enjoying from the majority of Ghanaians. It also called on the party leadership to help the government by giving it the opportunity to achieve results that will curtail the chances of the NPP coming back to power. Ali Rasak averred that if the leadership of the NDC cannot tone down and work together in achieving the common goal, then obviously, the NPP will be gaining grounds for 2012. If this occurs, we the youth of NDC shall never forgive those of our leaders who are in position to behave maturely to consolidate our gains but have failed. The GYGG maintained that it is very important for members of the NDC who are engaged in press war against each other to cease fire. Ali Razak said, the various criticisms of government being too slow are quite in the right direction. According to him, that must be done circumspectly to avoid any squabbles that will empower the opposition NPP. Ali Razak also pointed out that the NDC government indeed came to meet an unprecedented budget deficit which it is trying very hard to fix and that it will take time for the government to honour its major promises to the people. Although the group called on Ghanaians to be a little patient with the government, it also ignored peoples perception that the government is slow. He (President) must be responsive to the lamentations of the people of Ghana, the group stated. According to members of the group, they are confident that the Atta-Mills-led government will deliver to the benefit of all Ghanaians.
