Ghana Has Lost A Great Statesman - Bawumia On Appiah Menka's Death

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has commiserated with the family of Mr Appiah Akenten Menka, a founding father of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), describing the death of the former Minister as a “great shock”.

Mr Menka died on Tuesday, 13 February 2018 at the age of 84.

Dr Bawumia indicated in a Facebook post on Wednesday, February 14, that: Ghana has lost a great Statesman and Leader. May his gentle soul find a peaceful rest in the bosom of the Almighty God”.

Mr Menka who was a private legal practitioner and businessman is also known for producing the popular Appino soap.

He was a member of the Constitution Review Commission which was established by the Mills administration. Mr Appiah Menka is also the Chairman of the Ashanti Oil Mills, Appiah Menka Complex Limited and Appiah Menka Plantations.

He is also the Chairman of the Council of Elders of the NPP in the Ashanti Region.
