45-Year-Old Man Dies In A Well

Isaac Nyaaba , 45 year old trader on Monday evening met his untimely death when he fell into a well he was trying to fetch water from for his goats at Kuotokrom in the Sunyani Municipality.

Mr Kwame Bonsu, an eye-witness told the Ghana News Agency that on that day, Mr. Nyaaba at about 1840 hours found out that there was no water in a bowl that the goats drank from and decided to fetch some from the well for them.

Mr Bonsu, said, a plastic container hanging on a rope that was used in fetching the water had fallen into the well and was floating over the surface and the deceased then decided to enter the well for it but slipped while climbing up and fell into the well which was containing a lot of water and got drowned.

He said neighbours around could not rescue Nyaaba until personnel from the Sunyani Municipal Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) arrived in few minutes later to bring him out and rushed in an ambulance to the Sunyani Regional Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The GNFS when contacted confirmed the incident, but explained however that the man was brought out unconscious and was handed over to the Police.

Divisional Officer Two (DO II) Jonathan Ashong, the Sunyani Municipal Fire Commander advised the public not to delay in calling the Fire Service to rescue people trapped and should not try to force trapped victims out from vehicles and pits since that could contribute to their death.
